Vacuum-electronic packaging

Also known as vacuum packaging, this method involves completely removing the air from the packaging container and sealing it, maintaining a highly reduced-pressure environment inside. The scarcity of air creates an oxygen‑deficient condition that deprives microorganisms of the conditions necessary for survival, thereby preserving fruit freshness and preventing spoilage. Currently employed techniques include vacuum packaging in plastic bags, aluminum foil packaging, glass containers, and packaging made from plastics or composite materials. The choice of packaging material can be tailored to the specific type of product. Since fruits are fresh, perishable foods that continue to respire, extreme hypoxia can lead to physiological disorders; therefore, vacuum packaging is relatively uncommon for fruit products. 1. Its purpose is to reduce the oxygen content within the package, thereby preventing mold growth on packaged foods.
